Where customers once navigated to a financial institution’s website to find information, a growing proportion now receive that information pre-synthesised — surfaced directly within an AI assistant, a large language model interface, or a generative search result.

This changes the visibility equation in a fundamental way. Content that ranks well in traditional search results may not be the content that gets cited, summarised, or recommended by AI-generated responses. Brand presence is increasingly determined not by what a company publishes on its own domain, but by how its information is structured, distributed, and interpreted across the broader digital ecosystem.
